The Young Children’s Festival (YCF) is an annual event (since 1995) in Castle Park providing an inclusive, fun day out for young families with free activities like art, craft, sport, music and dance plus the aim of signposting to sources of advice and support. We aim to make all families feel included, whatever their background, needs or means. A funfair and a range of food stalls are also available.

This Sunday Times comment sums up the wonderful Fayre and Market. Medieval stalls selling all sorts of wonderful historic crafts, entertainers from the period. Children enthralled by the story tellers. Music wafting from every corner.
Mummers, mimers, rymers, beggars, peddlars. Just soak up the atmosphere of the market. Revel in the joys of the fayre. Modern craft area. Wonderful food court with medieval and modern delicacies. Picnic areas. ‘The Pikestaff Inn’ selling real ale, mead, wines and chilled lagers.
Colchester Miracle Babies has organised a family sponsored walk to be held in Colchester Castle Park on Sunday 23rd June 2019. It is to raise money for Colchester Hospitals Neonatal Unit who look after premature and sick babies. Registration starts at 10:00 with the walk beginning at 10:30 where we will walk a 5km course starting at the bandstand and finishing at the bandstand.
Now in its 15th successful year set in Colchester’s beautiful Castle Park. There will be lots of old favourites and this year we have some new and exciting stalls and products to tempt you.
Featuring over 100 different stalls with local and international food and drink. There will be so much to see and try. Why not make a picnic or pick up lots of food and drink to take home.
The Pikestaff Inn real ale bar will also feature lots of different ciders and good cold lager.
In 2019 you can enjoy champagne, Prosecco and cocktails at our new bar and you can learn how to make the perfect cocktail at our Cocktail Creative Classes. Our Celebrity Chef Kitchen will be performing all day and of course is FREE.
Relax in the wonderful atmosphere of this much loved festival. You can have a picnic, listen to the music. Stroll around the stalls trying some of the artisan produced local goodies. Inside the Festival with FREE entry is the Colchester Rose Show. Over 100 years old, the show has some lovely exhibits. And YOU can enter, perhaps even win one of the silver trophies (see Rose Show Classes button below).
The entrance price is £4.00 for adults and with FREE parking in Kings Meadow it makes it the cheapest day out for all the family. We strive to be disabled friendly and always welcome suggestions on how we can improve. Well-behaved dogs on leads welcome.

Charles is getting married and his scheming mother-in-law has presented him with a backhanded gift.
